Piece of cake!

Basically, I was worrying for nothing.  Things are running very smoothly.  Yes, I am having to do a little more than usual, but it isn’t a big deal.  The laundry is considerably less.  I went from doing at least one load of laundry a day to not being able to scrounge a load of darks yesterday.  I did do some towels though.  Chris is able to get up and down with basically no help now which is helpful.  I do a lot for him still just to keep him from having to get up and down.  He basically just hangs out in bed or on the couch, and he has been excellent about getting up and walking around like he was told to do.  Trouble is, he is bored already.  I knew this would happen, but we will just have to deal with it.

Okay, warning, I am about to brag about myself here.  :)  I went to the grocery store on Friday, and I only spent $150.00 for 2 weeks worth of dinners, lunches and snacks.  We will have to go again next week to pick up milk and bread, but I am basically set.  We always spend way more than that, but this time I am trying a different approach.  I am making most of our meals myself, no processed or ready-made anything.  Well, there are a few ready-made things, but it will mostly be me.  Last night I made my first ever chicken and dumplings.  Now, I will say that I am going to tweak a few things, but overall they were very good.  The best part is…KAELAN ATE THEM!  He even asked for more.  Amazing!  Now, chicken and dumplings will have to be worked into my monthly menu planning for sure.  I didn’t realize that I was such a good cook!  ;)

Let’s see.  The baby is doing great with her eating.  So far the winners are peas, carrots and green beans.  Today we will be trying another fruit.  I wish I could get her to drink some juice.  I would love to be able to give her some juice during church to keep her happy, but so far the juice has been a no go.

Kaelan attempted to ride his bike yesterday.  We got him all ready with his pads and his helmet.  He hopped on, and after several attempts to pedal he informed me that his bike was broken.  He really is something else.  I told him that he could try again today after “church school.”

On to Halloween, I ordered Mackenzie a Halloween costume the other day.  She is going to be a butterfly.  I bought Kaelan’s several weeks ago.  He is going to be a skeleton.  I love Halloween, and since we live in “Halloween neighborhood” then we’ll be all set.  Chris is going to hang out here with Mackenzie while Kaelan and I become one of the 5000 or so people in our neighborhood.

That’s really about all that we have going on here.  I have to get Kaelan ready for catechism.  We aren’t going to church today, but I am sure that we’ll be able to next week.  Chris should be fine alone by then.

So, all in all things are going very well.  I have been able to continue everything as usual with the addition of a few chores that Chris does as well, and amazingly I would feel comfortable with anyone coming over for a visit since my house is not out of control.  I am pretty tired though; I will admit ti that.  My birthday is coming up though(it’s actually on Thanksgiving this year), and I think I will ask to be allowed to sleep until 9 a.m. for my present.  I would kill to get to sleep in!
